Rev. Dr. Claudette Copeland

Pastor, New Creation Christian Fellowship, San Antonio, Texas

Claudette A. Copeland, a native of Buffalo, New York, was saved and spirit filled at age 14; groomed and grown in the church and licensed as an Evangelist at age 18 in the Church of God In Christ. She is the founding pastor of New Creation Christian Fellowship in San Antonio, Texas. She graduated from the University of Connecticut with a bachelor’s degree in psychology and subsequently attended the Interdenominational Theological Center, completing her M.Div. in 1977, Summa Cum Laude. She earned the Doctor of Ministry degree from United Theological Seminary (1994), where she also served as a visiting professor and mentor for doctoral students. Following her ordination in 1979, she served in a variety of ministry settings, including hospital chaplaincy (ACPE) and military chaplaincy (U.S.A.F.), the second African American woman to serve in that role. She also served short-term missions in Haiti, Kenya, Liberia, Botswana and South Africa. Dr. Copeland continues to serve the church with a rigorous itinerate preaching ministry.  A published author, sought-after preacher, compassionate shepherd, contented wife and a wise mentor of women, she has been married to Bishop David M. Copeland for 35 years.
