Namaste Men’s Ministry

Our African American male ministry is called Namaste (a word from the Sanskrit language which means “the divinity in me salutes the divinity in you”). We seek to inspire fellowship, spirituality, pride, understanding and purpose. We are participating in a mentoring ministry for young Black males called The Simba (Safe In My Brother’s Arms) Circle (a camp experience for young males — a Rites of Passage). Join us every third Saturday morning, 8 – 10 am (including breakfast) at St. Andrew Redeemer Lutheran Church, 2261 Marquette (@14th St.), Detroit (313-896-3370).

Welcome New Board of Directors

Leadership
At the February 28 Annual Community Meeting, the members unanimously voted to accept Jonathan Barlow, Jeanine Hatcher and Troy Walker to the board of directors for a two-year term. They join Dave Morin who has one year remaining for his board term.

Additionally the community recognized the leadership of our out-going board of directors: Chair John H. Hale, Jr; Treasurer Lydia Barlow Jamison; Secretary Danielle Hall; and Members-At-Large Roland Chandler and Walter Jackson. This board contributed to the organizational structure, development of policies and procedures and implementation of many of the programs for Acts In Common. We salute their years of service and look forward to engaging them in other ways.
